Life Legacy
Gy Sgt. Ralph J. Ashmore, USMC, retired, of Cabot passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2008 in Jacksonville. He was born February 7, 1912 in Simpsonville, SC to the late Wallace D. Ashmore and Myrtle Roberts Ashmore. He is preceded in death by his wife, Garnett K. McBee Ashmore. After retiring from the Marine Corps in 1961, Ralph lived in the Chicago area for 12 years; he then lived in Stafford, VA for 22 years before moving to the Cabot area in 1999. Ralph served in the Pacific during WWII and also in Korea. He was a member of Cabot Westside Church of Christ.
Ralph is survived by his brothers, H.W. Jack Ashmore of Mauldin, South Carolina, Wallace Ashmore Jr. of Simpsonville, South Carolina, and George F. Ashmore; sisters, Evelyn Ball, Edith Knight, and Betty Wasson.
Graveside services will be10:00 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2008 at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock with Roger Hopper officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Cabot Funeral Home from 6 8 p.m. On Sunday, February 17, 2008 at 2:00 there will be a Memorial Service in the funeral home chapel with David Brown officiating.
