Obituary

Allie Mae Pennington, 87, of Lonoke, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, April 14, 2021.  She was born June 23, 1933 in Lonoke to the late Daniel and Marie (Henderson) Hayes.  Ms. Allie was a wonderful sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her.  She will also be remembered as being a classy dresser – she was always looking immaculate and being frugal while doing it.  Ms. Allie was quite the seamstress when her girls were growing up – in fact, she made many custom Easter dresses and prom dresses.  She was an avid gardener, and you could find her shelling peas, digging in the dirt and canning the most wonderful smelling plum jelly.  She was a great cook and when you were sick there wasn't anything better than a grilled cheese and soup with Sprite to make everything better.  She worked alongside her husband and they created a wonderful family together.  Nothing gave her greater joy than helping others, and helping to raise her grandchildren was one of her greatest achievements. She loved taking care of her husband, Roy, their children and grandchildren, but most of all she loved her Lord and her church family.  Her sisters were so precious to her and she was not only a sister, but also a bit of a mother hen to them.  She loved them and her nieces and nephews so much. In addition to her parents, Ms. Allie was preceded in death by her brother, Tommie Hayes.

Left to cherish her memory are husband of almost sixty-three years, Roy Pennington; daughters, Jeri (Steve) Rich and Stacey (Glenn) Moore; son, Eddie (Angelia) Pennington; thirteen grandchildren, Brandon (Jamie) Pennington, Seth (Bryan) Pennington, Ethan (Kendra) Pennington, Leslie Harris, Riley Cunningham, Jay-Lyn Cunningham, Steven (Lindsay) Rich, Simone (Charles) Starks, Bridgette (James) Eason, Alexander (Sarah) Moore, William Moore, Mallory Moore and Scarlett Moore; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Faye Dillon and Edna Jewell (Larry) Gorbet; daughter-in-law, Hilda Pennington; aunts, Helen Cavender and Maysel Franklin and many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Lonoke Apostolic Church with Dr. John Tackett officiating.  Interment will follow at Lonoke Cemetery.  Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, April 16, 2021 at the church.  The family suggests donations in memory of Allie Mae Pennington be made to Lonoke Apostolic Church, PO Box 373, Lonoke, AR  72086.  Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
