Avis Inez Mitchell, 89, of Jacksonville, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022.  She was born February 13, 1933 in Jacksonville to the late Cleve and Vivian Irene Brannon Nichols.  Avis enjoyed working in the yard and growing beautiful plants and flowers.  She was also a great cook and she loved her coffee.  Avis was a caregiver to several family members and leaves the memory of always being kind-hearted to those around her.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lloyd Mitchell and sister, Margaret Hardcastle.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Tammy Mitchell Wheat (Tim) and Karen Johnson (Scott); bonus daughter, Melanie Wheat (Melvin); eight grandchildren, Jonathan, Zach, Travis, J.D., Bryan, Alicia, Christopher and Catie; ten great-grandchildren and a host of family members to whom she was a devoted aunt and cousin.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 6, 2022 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Harmony Cemetery in Sherwood.  Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 5, 2022 and 9:00-11:00 a.m., Monday, June 6, 2022 at the funeral home.  Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
