Feb 25, 1942 — Jun 2, 2023
Barbara Duncan Fulton, 81, of West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Carmichael Fulton, Sr. and her parents, Frank B. Duncan and Laura Ellen Duncan of Franklin, North Carolina. She is survived by her son, Douglas C. Fulton, Jr. and his wife Kelli of Cabot, Arkansas; daughter, Deborah F. Harrison and her husband Curtis of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, David, Lindsay and Jordan Fulton, Ashlee Thrasher and her husband Jake, Stephanie and JC Harrison; sisters, Frances Smith and husband Stan, of Columbia, South Carolina and Martha Rayside and husband Bill of West Palm Beach, Florida, and nieces Holly Fulton, Susan Osgood, Stephanie Malone, Cheryl Mosley, and Bethany Rayside, and nephews Jeff and Doug Debolt, and many cousins and extended family.
Barbara graduated from Agnes Scott College in 1964 with a degree in English and then continued her education at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina where she obtained her teaching license. Following graduation, Doug and Barbara married in Franklin, North Carolina and then moved to Coral Gables, Florida. While Doug finished law school at the University of Miami, Barbara taught middle school English in the Miami-Dade County Public School System. After graduating from law school, Doug and Barbara moved back to West Palm Beach, where Doug was raised, to start their family, and where Doug began working as an attorney. Early on Barbara stayed home to raise her young children, but later returned to work helping Doug in his legal practice and serving at First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach as a Youth Ministry assistant. Barbara was a sustaining member of the Junior League of the Palm Beaches and The Family Church. Barbara enjoyed playing bridge, tennis and golf. She was blessed to travel extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. No matter where she traveled, she always loved the mountains of North Carolina where she grew up and West Palm Beach, Florida where she lived for over 50 years. Barbara loved her family, her friends and most of all she loved and served her Lord Jesus.
