Billy Ray Sherrill, 88, of Cabot, passed away January 12, 2021 from COVID complications. He was born August 12, 1932 in Ridgley, Tennessee to the late Henry and Ollie Sherrill. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, Robert Sherrill, three sisters, his wife's two adult sons and one grandson.
Bill served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952 in the 6520 th Installation Group as a fire equipment helper and studied auto mechanics until he became disabled in 1954. Afterward, he traveled many places and then returned to reside in the Mayflower/Conway, Arkansas area where he was raised as a young boy. From there, he moved to Little Rock and then settled in Cabot, Arkansas.
Bill had many talents as a mechanic, small engine repairman and gas station owner. Throughout his life he played the guitar and also played in a band. Bill had a love for music, cars and tinkering with just about anything.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of thirty-eight years, Marjorie Sherrill; daughters, Elizabeth Libby Gatton and Kathie Hayes; step-children, Susan Weatherford, Laura Langstaff and David Ballou; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, John Sherrill and many extended family members and life-long friends.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 15, 2021 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
Due to COVID-19, masks and social distancing are required.
