Bret Arnold joined the Lord on December 28, 2021. He was born January 31, 1959, to Robert and Phyllis Arnold. Bret graduated from North Little Rock Old Main High School in 1977. After High School, he proudly served his country as a United States Marine where he was awarded a Navy Achievement Medal and earned an Associate Degree in Business. After a successful blind date, he later married Elaine (Laine) Cogwell in 1991 in Cabot, Arkansas. They remained devoted to each other throughout. For most of his career, he worked in business and Civil Service at Little Rock Air Force Base. Bret was modestly generous, funny, intelligent, caring, brave and a hard worker. As a child and young man, he enjoyed teasing his mother and later perfected his art of teasing on his wife. Every year "Mr. Bret" looked forward to helping his wife, a teacher, get her room ready and getting to know her class. Bret was an avid Razorback fan. He was a Baptist and attended church regularly until his illness. Bret was much loved by his parents, wife, sister-in law, nieces and nephews, other family, many friends, and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Westbrook Arnold, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
Bret is survived and loved by his wife Elaine Cogwell Arnold; father, Robert Arnold; Uncle Edward Arnold and Aunt Judith Sapp; sister-in law, Rebecca Cogwell Anderson (Jeff); nieces, Kristin Franke (Kurt) and Courtney Graziano (Chris) and great nieces and nephews, Clayton, Josie, Lili, Lucy, Leland and Reid.
Bret maintained a positive attitude and fought fiercely to recover. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Froedtert Hospital, Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the loving care they provided during Bret's lengthy hospital stay.
Memorial gifts are requested in Bret's name to the American Kidney Fund @ kidneyfund.org .
