Obituary

Clifford Allen Peterson, 67, of Cabot, Arkansas, passed from this life on Sunday, April 20, 2025. He was born October 25, 1957 at Travis Air Force Base to Glen and Christie Peterson.  A couple of years later, the family grew adding his sister, Glenda.  In 1963, the family moved to Rapid City, South Dakota.  Cliff graduated from Stevens High School in 1975.  He joined the Rapid City Police Department in 1984 serving as part of the S.W.A.T. Team, a field training officer and E.V.O.C instructor.  In 2013, Cliff retired as a Sergeant from the department he loved so much.  He also served as the Marshall in Hermosa for a while.

He followed in his parents' footsteps joining the Masonic family, first in DeMolay and later becoming the Master of the Hermosa Lodge.  Cliff was an avid hunter and fisherman who also enjoyed rock hounding with his grandson.  He had a huge passion for gold prospecting and was always on a quest for that elusive large gold nugget.

Cliff and Terry became foster parents in 1991 helping many children and eventually adopting their two special daughters who were daddy's girls.

He was loved by many and was never too busy to take time with anyone he met.  Every person he met was a new friend.  His engaging personality and sage advice will always be remembered by those with whom he surrounded himself.  Cliff has a special way of making everyone feel comfortable.  His sense of humor endeared him to all of those who loved him.  Cliff continued to accrue a family of friends after retiring from the police department, making life long friendships with the people he joined while "gold" panning and even after his move to Arkansas. Always a caring and serving man if he saw you were in need, he would stop whatever he was doing to help.

The last three years after his retirement, Cliff and Terry started a side job of fixing up their dream home in Arkansas.  No job was too big, too much or too easy.  They loved sitting outside in the backyard dreaming about all the plans they had for their dream home.  With Terry by his side, he could do anything. Due to his passing away, some of those dreams never came to fruition.  If he were still here today, we know he would tell us all to keep dreaming, but maybe not so big.

In addition to his parents, Cliff was preceded in death by his grandparents and uncles Mike and Clifford.  He is survived by his wife, Terry; daughters, Larissa and Jade; grandson, Avery; sister, Glenda; Uncle Joe and Aunt Martha in Nova Scotia; his fur babies, Sage, Sable and Taboo as well as his brothers and sisters in law enforcement.

Forever in our hearts

Greatly loved

A cherished and caring heart

Is a blessing from above

Rest in Peace, Cliff ~ We love you!
