Constance (Connie) Jean Hardin, of Ward, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020 at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her foster parents, Cecil and Ethel Page; her husband, Herbert Hardin; her daughter, Barbara Cubba and grandson, Michael Hardin. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine "Cathy" Gastineau (Charles); sons, Herbert "Tony" Hardin (Peggy) and William "Bill" Hardin (Gaye); eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Barrera; brother, Ozzie Yuna and foster-sister, Alice Herman.
Connie was born February 27, 1929 in Seattle, Washington. She and Herb married August 27, 1947. Connie was a school teacher with the Blytheville School District, member and President of the PTA, a member of the United Methodist Women (UMW) and Sunday school teacher at Lake Street UMC and Aldersgate UMC, member of the Mississippi County Home Extension Office, and volunteer at the Mississippi County Fair. Following the passing of her husband in 2002, Connie moved to Ward, AR and became quite the social busy bee that many know her by today. She became heavily involved in The Red Hat Society, bowling at the Little Rock Air Force Base, volunteering at Jacksonville's North Metro Hospital, dancing at Ward's Dance Hall, and volunteering at the White and Lonoke County Fairs. Connie was also an avid member of Old Austin United Methodist Church
and a continued member of Home Extension.
Connie was always well known for collecting anything and everything related to birds and ensuring all shelves, window ledges, and cabinets were filled with knick-knacks. From bird houses to "Cross in My Pocket", she made sure everyone she came across received some sort of handmade gift. Out of her many memorable qualities, she is most remembered for her generosity, kind heart, and loving soul. She will be missed, but we know she is dancing her way through the streets of gold, hand-in-hand with Jesus.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home with Reverend David Steele and Pastor Cullianne Foster officiating. Interment will follow at Old Austin Cemetery in Ward. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The family suggests memorial donations be made in memory of Connie Hardin to Old Austin United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 68, Ward, AR 72176. Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
