Obituary

Corey Wayne Clement, 53, of Cabot, went to be with the Lord Sunday, April 30, 2023. He was born November 7, 1969, in Jacksonville, Arkansas, to Fredrick Davis "Skipper" Clement, Jr. and Janet Yates Clement.

Corey's one-of-a-kind, "what you see is what you get" personality was larger than life. He kept his close circle small, but if you were lucky enough to be a part of that circle, you were loved fiercely and unconditionally and you knew it.

After high school, Corey followed in the family business of farming with his father, later working for Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, a dream for an avid timber duck hunter. After a few years, the farm was calling his name and he couldn't ignore that. He began a career in custom applications which led to agriculture equipment sales. If anyone had equipment issues, he was the guy you called.

An avid outdoorsman, Corey loved hunting and fishing any chance he could get, a pastime he made sure to pass on to Deborah, Trevor, Big Shot and Cutter, the loves of his life. In recent years, his love of the outdoors led to taking care of his "girls," as he called them, some 53 chickens he and Big Shot acquired and cared for. They even had prize-winners at the county fair, and he was so proud of that.

Corey was a self-starter, determined, and strong-willed. When he put his mind to something, there was no changing it. He spent his entire career in various aspects of agriculture and made sure to look out for his customers in the same way he would treat a friend. Corey maintained his steadfast determination in all that he did, especially in his final battles with cancer. "I got this," he would say, to anyone who would ask how he was doing, and he selflessly fought like a warrior for the family and friends he loved so fiercely.

Corey is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Oglesby; son, Trevor Oglesby and grandchildren, Rylin "Big Shot" Oglesby and Kayne "Cutter" Oglesby. He is also survived by his father, Skipper Clement and siblings, Destiny Burnett and Natasha Durham, as well as a number of extended family members and close friends. Corey was preceded in death by his mother and his sister, Angie Washington.
