Crystal Susan Cavin, 62, of Austin, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at her home on August 27, 2024. Born on November 30, 1961, in Little Rock, she was the cherished daughter of Nell Dean and William Eugene Carmical. Her family and friends affectionately called her Christy.

Christy graduated from Lonoke High School in 1979 and later attended the University of Central Arkansas, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. Her passion for teaching led her to a fulfilling career as an elementary school teacher, where she made a lasting impact on countless young lives during her 25 years of service for the Cabot School District.

On November 4, 1983, Christy married the love of her life, Marty Lynn Cavin. Their life together was filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Christy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and her family was her greatest pride and joy.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Morgan Brittany Purkiss, and her husband, Timothy Shaun Purkiss; her adored granddaughters, Sophie Lynn and Emory Sue, who lovingly called her CiCi; her aunts, Pauline Wingate and Jo Ann Moody; and many other beloved family members and friends.

Christy was a member of the Chi Omega sorority and the Cabot Junior Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafting, spending precious time with her granddaughters—whom she loved to the moon, the sun, the stars, the butterflies, and heaven above and vacationing at the beach with her dear friends, affectionately known as Flamingos.

Christy's warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Moore's Funeral Homes in Cabot, Arkansas. Visitation will take place on August 29, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mount Carmel Baptist Church.  The funeral service will be held on August 30, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., also at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Cabot. Interment will follow at Sumner Cemetery in Cabot. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Christy's memory to the ALS Association of Arkansas. In memory of Christy, the family suggests wearing pink to her funeral service.
