Obituary

David Michael Butler, 66, of Cabot, Arkansas, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.  He was born in Searcy, Arkansas on March 30, 1958, to Billie Mack Butler and Ethel Louise Henderson Butler.  David grew up in Arkansas.  His early preschool years were spent in England and he attended elementary school in Fordyce.   As a teenager, he moved to Augusta and graduated from Augusta High School in 1976.

From the time he was a boy, David was told he had a natural business mind.  As a teenager he had a firework stand in July and January.  That was the start of his investing for the future.

In his twenties, David moved from Augusta to Central Arkansas and started his career in the flooring industry.  It was at this time he met the love of his life, Nina Kay Marshall.  They were married in 1986.

In 2008, after 25 years of faithful service with Shaw Industries, David decided to pursue his passion as a financial advisor.  David enjoyed many years of sharing his business and investment knowledge with his clients.  He retired December 1, 2023, from Butler Financial Services.  He cared deeply for his clients, and he was grateful for the trust they put in him.

David was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Cabot where he served as a deacon and lead discipleship classes for many years.

David was an avid outdoorsman whether boating on a lake, hunting in Arkansas or pheasant hunting in South Dakota.  He and Nina personally traveled to all 50 states and several continents to show Marshall American history.

David died following an eighteen month-long battle with brain cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Nina Butler; son, Marshall David Butler (Stephanie), grandsons, David Hampton Butler and Clifton Marshall Butler all of Cabot; brother Andy Butler (Linda) of Covington, Louisiana; sister Suzy Koski (Joseph) of Hoover, Alabama; many nieces and nephews.

His memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, 204 North 3rd, Cabot, Arkansas, 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024.  All family and friends are warmly invited to attend.  His final resting place will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Cabot, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in his memory to First Baptist Church, Foundations for the Future Building Fund.  Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
