Obituary

David Lee Neville, 82, of Cabot, went to be with the Lord on April 15, 2020.  He was born January 17, 1938 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Albert and Justine Staley Neville.  David graduated from Hurricane High School where he played basketball.  He served proudly in the United States Navy and was stationed in Newfoundland.

David was married on November 26, 1960 to the love of his life, Linda, who he often stated saved his life.  When his wife, Linda, had a stroke in 2014 and moved to Spring Creek Nursing Home, David spent each moment he could with her without missing a single day. He called his daughter each night at 7 to update her on the day and never ever said anything other than "We had a good day!" No matter what was thrown his way, he saw the positive side of everything.  When he fell ill, he decided that by her side in the nursing home is where he wanted to be. They are the real life "Notebook". The love that he had for his wife is admirable, and something that you rarely see.

He was a man of God and spent his life sharing the Word of God with anyone he met.  His strong faith was the foundation of how he lived his life and ministered to others.  In 1972, David moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee where he attended Tennessee Temple University to pursue a degree in theology.  David was a member of Heritage Baptist Temple in Little Rock.

He was a blacksmith and boilermaker who worked for the railroad in WV, GA and finally AR where he retired from Union Pacific in 2000.  He loved sports and would spend hours watching games on TV. He loved the Marshall Thundering Herd and his Arkansas Razorbacks.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Donnie.  He is survived by his daughter, Angela and her husband, Angelo of Edinburg, Texas; three grandchildren, David Hapney II (Jessica) and their daughter, Ellie Belle of Houston, Texas, Amanda Hapney Delgado (Justin) and their children, Dylan and Devyn of San Antonio, Texas and Caitlyn Hapney of San Antonio; his siblings, Judith Wade and Paul Neville and multiple nieces and nephews.  He had many friends throughout his life, but the most dear were Trudy Stapleton of Little Rock, AR and lifelong friend Sandra Bellomy of Huntington, WV.
