Obituary

Dean Alexander Farris went to be with the Lord on March 19, 2020. He passed peacefully at his home in Cabot, surrounded by his family.  He was born August 23, 1946 in Charlotte, North Carolina, the son of Jesse Leonard Farris and Mary Blanchette Farris. Dean graduated from Rockingham High School, class of 1965, where he was a 4-year varsity letterman for the Rockets football team. Following high school, Dean attended Pembroke University.

In 1978, Dean moved to Arkansas where he met the love of his life and wife of 41 years, Sharon (Pryor) Farris. They had a love to be envied and built a beautiful life together. Dean was a member of Kensett First Baptist Church.  He retired in 2011, after working as a real estate appraiser/negotiator for 26 years with the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department. Dean was an avid sports fan.  Through the years, he coached his children in many sports, and could often be found on Friday nights cheering on the Cabot Panthers. He loved spending time with Sharon, bragging on his children and telling tall tales. He made Arkansas his home, but never lost his love for North Carolina.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jesse Leonard Farris, Jr.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Sharon, is his daughter, Christy (Jason) Rogers of Cabot; sons, Scott (Terri) Farris of North Little Rock and Josh (Brittany) Farris of Ward; five grandchildren, Bo Rogers, Maggie Rogers, Lillie Farris, Mary Surrett and April Crumpler and a large extended family who he loved dearly.

Dean lived life to the fullest.  As one dear friend put it, "He was a wonderful husband, dad and grandfather. His laughter and positive attitude made a lasting impression on everyone he crossed paths with. He will be missed tremendously by all who knew him".

A celebration of Dean's life will be planned at a later date.  The family suggests donations in memory of Dean be made to the Kensett First Baptist Church Building Fund, 308 W Wilbur Mills Ave, Kensett, AR  72082 or the Alzheimer's Association, P O Box 96011, Washington, DC  20090-6011.  Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
