Obituary

Dean Arthur Farris, husband, father, grandad; age 77, went to his eternal home Friday, February 6, 2026. He was born December 1, 1948 in Enid, Oklahoma to Edward Arthur and Wilma Marie Wilder Farris who he was greeted in death by. Dean attended Grant High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he was an athlete in various sports, lettering in football. He was the Senior Class President of 1967. Dean was in the United States Air Force as a Munitions Specialist, serving around the world in Texas, Colorado, California, Thailand, and England. Additionally, he was a clerk in the FBI and ultimately retired from ABF after 34 years as an Operations Supervisor. He was an active member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School class officer, as part of the Arkansas Disaster Relief program, and as a member of the church's Emergency Response Team. He truly was a provider and protector, always going above and beyond. Dean was intelligent and accomplished. He had a love for animals and the outdoors. It's said that he wore many hats and literally had a hat for every occasion. In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Newton Farris and Neal Edward Farris.

Dean is survived by his wife, Penny Renaé Farris; his daughter, Ivon "Ivy" Marie Farris and son, Lt Col Taylor Dean Farris and his wife Karla; grandsons, Joseph, James, Monroe and Maverick; as well as extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2026 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with Dr. David Mitchell officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock under the direction of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Taylor Farris, Casey Marshall, Larry McNelley, Calvin Parton, Doug Hatcher, and Ken Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dennis DeMoe, Steve Maupin, and the Mt Carmel Emergency Response Team. If you wish to send flowers, they can be sent to Moore's Funeral Home.
