Donald "Trey"
Louis Halferty, Iii
Nov 27, 1985 — Nov 9, 2021
Donald Louis "Trey" Halferty, III passed away November 9, 2021 at his home in Cabot, Arkansas. He was born November 27, 1985 in Little Rock. He is survived by his parents, Donald Louis "Donnie" Halferty, Jr. and Faye Henry Halferty, also of Cabot.
Trey was a 2004 graduate of Cabot High School, received an Associate's Degree at Arkansas State University – Beebe in 2007 and received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Central Baptist College, Conway, AR in 2010. An avid golfer, he was a member of Cabot High School's golf team when they were state golf champions in 2003. He continued his golf career at CBC, as a CBC Mustang during his junior and senior years of college.
After graduation, Trey continued to hone his golf skills and enjoyed playing at Rolling Hills Country Club and Greystone. He really enjoyed using his golf talents to "work over the old guard" and take a little of their money! For a time, he worked at both Rolling Hills and Greystone as a greenskeeper and technician. He loved his time working at the courses because he felt it gave him insight for better play.
With strong Missouri roots, he was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, but since he was the only true Arkansan in the family, he was a genuine win or lose fan of the Razorbacks football team. Recently, he and friends Kenny and Daniel went to see the Razorbacks play in Dallas, TX and it was a highlight of his year.
He worked for several years at Sherwin Williams in Cabot, Crossett and Russellville. Trey became a master at mixing paint and customer service. He developed the ability to match nearly any paint color regardless of age. A sure sign of his commitment to serving all his customers, he liked to say, "Old people love me."
If he was interested in a subject, Trey became an expert. He knew golf clubs, cell phones, paint and stain, most types of electronics, and vacation spots. He was especially adept at ordering from Amazon!
Trey was known for his big heart and dry sense of humor. He was always ready to assist his friends with anything they needed. Even as a small boy, he readily shared everything he had with his friends from the neighborhood and school. Trey loved a good joke and especially enjoyed playing them on his mom as well as aggravating her with his jokes and comments.
Trey was also an enthusiastic adapter of technology. He was the family expert when it came to making technology run or suggesting the latest and greatest technology advances to his family and friends. Recently, he was developing a new skill set by watching YouTube videos and using them to help solve things such as replacing a car fender, not only for himself, but for his family and friends. His lifelong friend, Kenny Beard helped provide his mobility for these projects after he broke his hip in a recent car accident.
In addition to his dad and mom, Trey is survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many new and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Donald L., Sr. and Margaret J. Halferty and his maternal grandparents, Whitson E., Sr. and Mildred M. Henry.
Visitation is scheduled for November 15, 2021 at Cabot United Methodist Church at 1:00 until time of the memorial service at 2:00. Honorary pallbearers will be Neal Roberts, Ronnie Loe, Jason Sample, Greg Harvey, Jacob Trammel.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid, Missouri on November 16, 2021.
