Obituary

Doris Lorene "Eagle" Walker of Cabot went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born August 6th, 1935 in Lonoke to the late William Alexander "Dyke" Eagle and Maydelle Norene Rowe.

She grew up on the family farm. There she developed her strong work ethic and family values. She had many chores including picking cotton and milking cows. She was known by her family as "Wink". She played basketball in her youth and graduated Salutatorian from Midway High School and later obtained a degree in banking.

She married the love of her life Jackie R. Walker on August 19th, 1952. They lived in several cities while growing their family before settling in Cabot. There they raised their five children. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She started in the workforce as the office manager at Jackson Cookie Company before pursuing a career in banking. She was a long-time employee of the former Bank of Cabot. She excelled in accounting and leadership becoming one of the first females to hold the title of Vice-President. She retired in 2000 as the Vice-President of Accounting/Data processing.

She was a member of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church. She instilled the love of the gospel in the hearts of all her children. She was a Sunday school teacher and shared her musical talents of playing the piano and organ for the congregation often times accompanied by her brother-in-law, Jimmy Taylor.

In addition to her musical talents, she was gifted in the art of crochet and a love of Southern cooking. She loved to share these talents with her friends and family and often gifted handmade items. She loved decorating and celebrating all the holidays with her favorite being Christmas. She is known for her chicken and dumplings, chicken and dressing and delicious pies just to name a few. She enjoyed gardening and canning foods.

She loved it when her family was together. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and was a supportive figure in all their lives. Her tell it like it is personality was her strong attribute that was equally matched by her heart of gold. Her loving, fighting spirit will always be a place of refuge in our hearts.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie R. Walker; son, Randall Wayne Walker; grandson, Robert Douglas Moyers; siblings, Betty Magness, Bill Eagle, Rebecca Wilson and George Eagle as well as sons-in-law, Bob Moyers and Rocky Thomas.

Mrs. Walker is survived by her four children, Sharon Moyers of Cabot, Jackie Thomas of Austin, Mark Walker of Russellville and Barbara Morris (Brian) of Cabot; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren and a sister, Rose Taylor of Lonoke as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Mount Zion Church with burial following at Hicks Cemetery. Arrangements are by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home (501)843-5816.
