Edgar Wilson Gilbert, 82, of Austin, went to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, January 24, 2020.  He was born February 2, 1937 in Pleasant Plains, Arkansas to the late Erie Wilson and Flora Moore Gilbert.  Edgar was one of eight children.  He worked hard all his life, beginning as the caretaker for his siblings at a very young age.  Edgar started his working years as a farmer and then went on to create and operate his own business, The Shim Shed, for over twenty-five years.  He enjoyed fishing, old cars and trains, old movies and listening to gospel music.  However, his favorite professional singer to listen to was Johnny Cash.  He also loved listening to his girls sing.  Poppy, according to him, was a champion washer board player and he always told others, "if you want to win, you'll be on my team."  He loved his family and they loved him dearly.  In addition to his parents, Edgar was preceded in death by five of his seven siblings, Ethere Altom, Louis Altom, Roy Gilbert, Murl Gilbert and Jimmy Gilbert.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of fifty-six years, Clista Gilbert; daughters, Lisa  (Tim) Gray and Tammy (Jon) Rocker; son, Marc (Jamie) Gilbert; six grandchildren, Deidre Gray, Chad (Melissa) Rocker, Austin Masters, Jared (Jocelyn) Gray, Christy (Frankie) Gray and Katelyn Gilbert; four great-grandchildren, Jeremy Gilbert, Jackson Gray, Molly Kate Gray and Elias Rocker; sisters, Juanita Odel and Ruby Robison and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home with Brother Bill Goodwin officiating.  Interment will be 3:30 p.m. at Union Grove Cemetery in Pleasant Plains, Arkansas.  Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at the funeral home.  Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
