Eileen Lasiter Poss, 74, of Cabot passed away Tuesday night, December 5th, 2023. She was born November 24th, 1949, in Little Rock, to Olin and Leathel Lasiter. Eileen married the late John Thomas Poss on April 17th, 1971 at Mount Tabor Methodist Church; and they remained married until death parted them in January 2022. Eileen was a Cabot Public School Teacher for 28 years, retiring in 2004. She was a member of Mount Tabor Methodist Church, where she was active in community outreach programs and routinely played the piano for services on Sunday mornings. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Olin and Leathel Lasiter, her husband John, sisters Martha Watt and Louise Williams, brothers-in-law Charles Watt and Bill Williams, and nephew Bob Watt.

She is survived by her sons, Eric Poss and Jason Poss (Elizabeth), grandson Gene, granddaughter Molly, nephews David Watt (Jane) and Samuel Darrell Williams (Tammara), nieces Debbie Robbins and Carmen Perrette, and a host of cousins and other extended family members in Cabot and the surrounding Lonoke County area.

A 1967 graduate of Cabot High, Eileen continued her education at Hendrix College in Conway, earning her bachelor's degree in 1971. She would return to post-graduate education in the 1980s for a Master's Degree in Education.  During Eileen's career with Cabot Public Schools, she forced some education into the willing and unwilling minds of students at the Middle School "M Building," (on the High School campus), Southside Elementary, and finally Central Elementary. She made lifelong friends among fellow teachers and left a lasting impact on her students, who number about half of Cabot.  After retiring, Eileen busied herself with activities at the Mount Tabor Methodist Church, including the "Brown Bag" lunch community outreach program, of which she took a leadership role for many years. She was also active in the Master Gardeners of Lonoke County.  A devoted sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, Eileen will be sorely missed.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16th, 2023 at Mount Tabor Methodist Church (4100 Hwy. 89 South, Cabot) with Pastor Jeff Warrick officiating.  Committal service will follow at Hicks Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home (501)843-5816.
