Emily Fisher
Stokes
Oct 25, 1938 — Sep 21, 2024
Emily Fisher Stokes passed from this earthly home and into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, September 21, 2024. She was born to Jay and Belma Fisher on October 25, 1938, in Board Camp, Arkansas. She met her husband in Camden, where they started their family and, in 1966, made Cabot their home.
Our beloved "Gee" was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where she raised her four children, taught Sunday School for many years and cherished Tuesday lunches with her sisterhood of friends. Emily was employed by Remington Arms in Lonoke for 26 years, balancing shift work and overtime while still cooking supper for her family every night. After retirement, she enjoyed managing the Wardrobe Consignment Shop, where her customers quickly became her friends.
Emily was her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's biggest fan, supporting them in every sport, school activity and passion they pursued. Famous for her carrot cake, fresh apple cake, chocolate pie and dressing, she loved to cook and was ready to make a grilled cheese sandwich at any time. Gee was queen of the back porch, sharing a lifetime of advice with her children, watching her grandkids play in the yard and enjoying visits with her sisters. Her favorite weekends were spent exploring country roads and sharing mountain views with her son and daughters. Cheering on the Cabot Panthers and calling the Hogs with her family brought her immense joy.
Emily was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Shelby; her parents, Jay and Belma Fisher; two brothers, Danny Fisher and Butch Fisher; and the first-born grandchild, Jessica Garner. She is survived by her siblings, Judy Smith, Melba Beals, Floy Byres, Ron Fisher and Frankie Fisher. She leaves behind her children to continue her legacy of love and family: Sharon (Robert) Garner, Robbie Morris, Mark Stokes, baby Kim (Bryan) Gullahorn and Laura Stokes, who she loved like a daughter. She is also remembered by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who will forever carry her love in their hearts.
Emily's family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the UAMS Oncology doctors, Springhill Baptist Hospital ER, ICU and especially the CCU staff, who gave their mom exceptional care and allowed her to peacefully walk through the gates of Heaven.
On Saturday, September 28, 2024, the family will receive visitors at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Cabot. Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-83-5816.
