Frances "Jane"
Chapman
Dec 19, 1942 — Dec 25, 2021
Frances "Jane" Chapman, age 79, died Saturday, December 25, 2021, in Cabot, Arkansas. She was born December 19, 1942 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Luther Herbert Roberts, Jr. and Corinne (Thibault) Roberts. She grew up in Scott, Arkansas in the home of her late paternal grandmother, Anna Westfall (Wessie) Dickey who helped her father raise his three children after the early death of their mother. She was raised as a member of All Souls Interdenominational Church in Scott until she moved to Cabot where she became an active member of Cabot United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her Sunday school class, volunteering for the church's food pantry and was a local and district officer in the United Methodist Women.
Jane graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1960 and attended the University of Arkansas before training as a Medical Technologist which became her career for 42 years. She was passionate about her work and about lifelong learning. She had many interests from reading and crafts to Bible study to political and social issues. For years she made it her mission to create Protestant prayer beads which she gifted to family, friends, and strangers she felt led to reach out to. She often helped cook for the church's community dinners and baked hundreds of Christmas cookies which she shared generously. She and her sister made many extended road trips through much of the U.S. and Canada learning as they traveled and sharing many laughable moments and adventures. She had her state and federal senators and representatives on speed dial and was not hesitant about sharing her concerns and opinions with them.
She is survived by two sons, David Carter Chapman, Jr. and Christopher Michael Chapman both of Cabot; one brother, Luther Herbert Roberts, III; one sister, Anna Corinne (Anne) Wells of Festus, Missouri; three grandchildren, Kristen Elizabeth Graham of Cabot, Bryan Patrick Chapman of Cabot and Brandy Akers of Cabot, as well as nine great-grandchildren, Logan Graham, Adalynn Rose Ballesteros, Mikayla Clements, Madalyn Elizabeth Chapman, Emma Jane Chapman, Cameron Taylor, Kaden Akers, Silas Akers and Mia Akers.
