Fred Davis Laster, 87, of Cabot, passed from this life into the presence of his Lord on Friday, November 24, 2023. Fred was born November 28, 1935 in Clarksville, Arkansas to the late Harl and Iva Goldwyn Jones Laster. Despite falling asleep during the movie on their first date, he married Mavis, the love of his life of nearly sixty-six years. They traveled the world together with their one and only beloved "kid" (as he called her for sixty-three years), Diane. A Vietnam War Veteran, he retired after twenty years from the United States Air Force, where he served our country as Master Sergeant. After his military retirement, he and his family settled in Cabot, Arkansas, where he began a second career with the United States Postal Service for twenty-one years. After Mavis made a Baptist convert out of him, he faithfully served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for over forty years. His love and study of God's Word poured out of him, and he was a spiritual counselor and advisor to countless others. He instilled those virtues into the lives of his family every day.

Fred is survived by his wife, Mavis Mize Laster of Cabot; their daughter, Diane Rose of Cabot; three grandchildren, Lori (Mark) Cooper, Kristen (Matt) Staton, and Mark Binns; four great-grandsons, Ryan, Mason, Eli Davis, and Jude; a brother, Lee (Darlene) Laster; his niece, Debbie (Bob) Harney; and a faithful furry companion, Rosie.

Graveside services for Fred will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 27, 2023 at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Cabot.  Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
