Obituary

Gene Solomon Carmical, 84, of Cabot, passed away February 20, 2020.  He was born May 2, 1935 in Jacksonville to the late John Wesley and Effie Josephine Petty Carmical.  Gene proudly served his country for twenty years in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard as a Crew Chief.  After his military career, he was a farmer and truck driver.  He drove over two million miles over the length of his career as a truck driver with ABF before his retirement in 2003.  Gene was a private pilot, loved shooting, catching and eating fish and traveling.  He was a Master Mason in the Jacinto Lodge and a member of Victory Baptist Church in Cabot.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister and his brother, Wilton Carmical.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Carmical; daughter, Chera Carmical Russenberger and her husband, Pat and John Patrick Carmical and his wife, Merriam; sister, Rozell Carmical Williford and best friend, Bill Van Pelt.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home with Brother Ben Leonard officiating.  Interment will follow at Mount Chapel Cemetery in Jacksonville.  Visitation will be 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2020 prior to the service.  Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
