George L. Clowes Sr., 92, of Cabot, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2024. He was born March 1, 1931 in Leechburg, Pennsylvania, son of Kenneth and Rebecca (Smith) Clowes.
George is survived by his loving wife of seventy years Pauline (Kolenchak) Clowes and children, Mark (Helen), Cynthia (Ken) Bloch, and George Jr. (Marian); grandchildren, Dr. Kelsey (Dr. Kevin) Livengood, Brett (Angela) Bloch, Christine (Kyle) Shreve, Stephanie Clowes, Kate (Jake) Moster, and Mitchell Clowes; great grandchildren, Easton, Asher, and Rush Livengood, Sydney, Savannah, and Charlotte Bloch and Bennett and Connor Shreve. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Clowes and Donald Clowes and sister, Colleen Kundrak.
After graduating from Leechburg High School, George served in the Air Force for four years and then worked for 43 years at Allegheny Ludlum in West Leechburg. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and he volunteered regularly with St. Vincent De Paul Society thrift store in Apollo and the Leechburg Recycling Center. He was a member of St. Catherine and Christ the King churches in Leechburg, Pennsylvania, and St. Jude's the Apostle Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Arkansas.
George was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend to so many. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards with friends, visiting casinos, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, watching them play sports and attending their school activities. In recent months, he enjoyed attending the PEAK Center in Cabot. George was known for his quick wit, his friendly and outgoing personality, and his devotion to his family. He loved to strike up a conversation with all those that he met, and his happiest times were spent in the company of his extended family, including many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice Home Care in Little Rock, Arkansas for their care. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, at St. Jude's the Apostle Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Arkansas.
