Geraldine Wallis Hames, 88, of Cabot, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022.  She was born December 28, 1933 in Franklin to the late Thurman and Virgie Ellis Wallis.  Geraldine grew up on the family farm which instilled in her strong ethics for hard work.  She worked at several places including General Electric, the grocery business and Walmart.  Her career at Walmart lasted for twenty-eight years from which she retired at the age of seventy-five.

Geraldine attended school at Violet Hill and Ozarka Vocational Technical School.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Horseshoe Bend for many years and loved gospel music and playing the piano.  She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard with her roses.  Geraldine was a loving mother and grandmother.  She was happiest when she could cook and spend time with her family and friends.  Geraldine was a very special woman.  She never complained about anything.  We could have never asked for a better mom or grandmother.  To us, she was the most amazing woman in the world.  She was always there for us.  Geraldine was our best friend and we will miss her more than words can describe, but know we will see her again.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Hames; grandson, Logan Burgess and great-granddaughter, Ann Marie Hall.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Arlene (Ken) Hayes of Cabot, Arkansas, Judy Hames of Austin, Arkansas, Bruce Hames of Montgomery, Texas and Rhonda Miller of Cabot, Arkansas; grandchildren, Matt Freas, Jonathan Hall, Melissa White, Brayden Hames, Alexis Dale and Porter Hayes; great-grandchildren, Christian Ingram, Sydney Ingram, Michael Hall, Natalee Freas, Amelia Harris and Gavin Hayes, as well as many extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home.  Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, February 7, 2022 at the funeral home.  Interment will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Violet Hill Cemetery in Violet Hill (Izard County), Arkansas.
