Obituary

James Douglas Bailey, 80, of Lonoke, passed from this life on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026. He was born February 6, 1946 in Little Rock to the late Glynn Bailey and Vivian Burleson Bailey. Jim graduated from Lonoke High School in 1964. In 1966 he joined the Air Force where he was an airplane mechanic. Following his military service, many lifelong friends were made while working at Remington Arms, DuPont Power Metals, Hazen Tech and as an Election Commission/Poll worker. He also contributed to the community by being a member of the Lonoke Lions Club, The Wade Knox Board of Directors and the Lonoke Chamber of Commerce. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Diane and his siblings, George Bailey and Buzz Bailey.

Jim is survived by his children, Chris Bailey, Michele Calhoun and husband Keith, Jamie Taber and Jonezy and Danny Hodges; a sister, Glynndia Gustavus and husband Bob; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and his fur babies, Annie and Lucy.

Visitation will be 5:30 p.m., Thursday, April 9, 2026 at New Testament Missionary Baptist Church in Lonoke.  The memorial service will begin at 6:00 p.m.  Memorials may be made to: The Lonoke Lions Club, P.O.
