James Keith Buckner, 68, of Cabot, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born October 13, 1957 in Asheville, North Carolina to James Bruce and Annette Hawkins Buckner. Throughout his life, James was known for his devotion to his family, his strong work ethic, his intelligence and his quiet generosity. He built a successful career in technology and telecommunications, beginning his professional journey with Jones Electric, where he worked for five years. He later joined Alltel, where he worked as a computer programmer for twenty-five years. His technical expertise, dedication and commitment to excellence earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues throughout his career.

Above all, James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His family was the cornerstone of his life and he took great pride in the people he loved. He will be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, quiet strength and the lasting impact he made on those fortunate enough to know him. James was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Russell and Annie Mae Moore Hawkins and his paternal grandparents, Lloyd Chester and Charlotte Roberts Buckner.

James is survived by his loving wife, Elouise Stephens Buckner; his children, Chad Buckner (Kristina) and Jody Buckner; his grandchildren, James Childers and Gavin Buckner; his great-grandson, Remi Buckner; his brother, Brent Buckner and his sister, Lisa Buckner Nixon, as well as many extended family members and dear friends. Though he is no longer with us, James’s legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the family he loved so dearly. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
