James Austin Carson, Jr., 82, of Cabot, peacefully passed from this life on Sunday, December 22, 2024. He was born September 8, 1942 in Little Rock to the late James Austin Carson, Sr. and Jewell Alma Hipps Carson.  James was a long-time member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church and a member of the Christian Car Club.  His early years were spent working at his father's service station, playing and coaching baseball, and he was a car show enthusiast.  James graduated in 1960 from Little Rock Central High School.  He spent 35 years working for the Arkansas Gazette as a printer in the composing room.  He loved his family dearly and enjoyed hunting, car shows, cutting wood, yard work, and various other outdoor activities.  In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Wayne Carson and sister, Myrtle Alice Dungan.

Those left to cherish his memory and to miss him dearly are his wife of forty-four years, Susan Carson; four children, James Lynn Carson, Elizabeth Jane English (Ted), Joseph Edwin Carson (Stacey) and James Scott Key (Shanon); eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and brother, Bill Carson (Sandy), as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 27, 2024 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Cabot with interment to follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
