James Kenneth Jones, 72, of Jacksonville, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2026. He was born August 31, 1954 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late James T. and Josephine R. Shepherd Jones. Jim proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Master Sargeant. If you knew him, you knew he was fun, happy, a prankster, mischievous, loyal, dedicated, courageous and always busy. Most of all, he was a man of quiet, strong faith who taught his family to stand up straight in this world with courage and with that same faith in Christ. He taught them to laugh, work hard and to love. Jim loved his family and devoted his life to caring for them. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Mary Jones.

Those left to cherish his memory and to miss him dearly are his wife of fifty-two years, Marsha Dillow Jones; children, Heather Nuckles and Michael Jones; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Sharon J Wilson, Constance R Jones, Brian D Jones (Sherry), Kimberly A Jones and Carolyn Callahan (Joe); special uncle and aunt who just celebrated their seventy-third wedding anniversary, Frank and Nancy Shepherd, as well as numerous extended family members and many friends.
