Obituary

Jason Elroy Rook, 71, of Austin, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2022.  He was born October 30, 1950 in Dardanelle to the late Edgar and Annie Moore Rook.  At the age of 17, Jason enlisted in the United States Army and was on active duty from August 1968 to August 1970, achieving the rank of sergeant.  He served again from March 1971 to March 1972.  Sergeant Rook was decorated for his service, having earned a Good Conduct Medal, Parachute Badge and the National Defense Service Medal.  He received training as an Electrician, in Airborne Maneuvers and Chemical, Biological and Radiological Defense.  After an honorable discharge, Jason served in the United States Army Reserves until 1987.

Jason spent many years in the aerospace industry, working for Little Rock-based Dassault Falcon Jet Completions Center for over twenty years.  Following his retirement from Dassault, Jason stayed active in the industry via employment contracts with various aerospace companies throughout the country.

Jason was a candid and generous person with a golden heart.  He always unselfishly put others first.  He might have appeared to be a quiet man, but for those who knew him, he was truly a man with good humor.  Jason enjoyed a simple life of the south, horsing, fishing, gardening, and when needed, he could cook a good steak.  He had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and is now rejoicing in heaven with the Lord.

Jason was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Annie Moore Rook.  He is survived by his wife Ngoc "Ruby" Rook; daughter, Jenna Rook; stepdaughter, Anh Thu "Amy" Nguyen; daughter, Lyndsey (Zach) Smith; son, Jacob (Sierra) Rook; four dearly loved grandchildren, Eli Smith, Cage, Acen and Kamilla Rook; sister, Marilyn Rook; two brothers, Dickey and Dwight Scott; one great aunt, Gretchen Madison and numerous nieces and nephews.

Public viewing will be 12:00-4:00 p.m., Friday, July 22, 2022 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.  Visitation will be 9:00–10:00 Monday, July 25, 2022 at the funeral home with service to follow at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel.  Interment will be 12:00 p.m. at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. "The Lord is my shepherd;

I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures.

He leads me beside still waters.

He restores my soul.

He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil, for you are with me;

your rod and your staff, they comfort me." — Psalm 23:1-4 ESV
