Jimmie Gordon
Taylor
Oct 13, 1935 — Nov 29, 2019
Jimmie Gordon Taylor, age 84, went to be with the Lord at 9:45 a.m. on November 29, 2019. He was born October 13, 1935 to the late James William (J.W.) and Veda Taylor in Lonoke, Arkansas.
He graduated from Midway High School and was a lifetime member of Mount Zion Methodist Church, where he served as song director, chairman of the finance board, and superintendent for some time. He was a Constable in Lonoke County for 40 years, a volunteer Firefighter, President of CS&Z, and a lifetime Union member of Teamsters 878. But above all he was a devoted husband, father, uncle, brother, and grandfather.
Jimmie loved fishing, camping, gardening, and hunting. However, he best enjoyed his time spent with his family and the Lord. In addition to his favorite activities and pastimes, he held a special place in his heart for the old John Deere tractor out back. His watermelons were famous across the county and he was famous for his generous heart.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Rose Taylor; his three daughters, Janet Taylor, Judy (Brian) Allen, Kim Taylor; his grandkids, Chase Bunker, Chelsi (Coby) Applewhite, Katlee Freasier, Seth (Madison) Allen, Marykathryn and Andrew Allen; his great-grandkids, Kennedi and Emmalyn Bunker; his brother, Lynn (Barbara) Taylor; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his family, he also gave his love to two bonus daughters, Lisa Sigler and Brandi Snyder.
The entire family would like to thank Jimmie's caregivers and hospice staff for their dedication, compassion, and constant support throughout his journey.
