Obituary

Jimmy "Skipper" Ray West Jr., 58, of Cabot, Arkansas, passed away peacefully September 5, 2024, in North Little Rock, Arkansas.  Born July 11, 1966, Skipper grew up in the small town of Gravesville, Arkansas where he developed a lifelong passion for the outdoors, specifically hunting and fishing. Skipper found great joy in nature. Known for his infectious smile and friendly spirit, he never met a stranger and was always willing to help someone in need. Even in passing, he continued his legacy of generosity by choosing to be an organ donor, offering the gift of life to others.

Jimmy was blessed to share 19 beautiful years with his soulmate, Cathy West, until her passing in 2019. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories. Reunited with Cathy, he is now at peace in the arms of Jesus. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cathy, his brother Ronald West, and his parents, Jim West and Rosie Boone, who surely welcomed him home with open arms.

Jimmy is survived by his stepmother, Debbie West and father-in-law, Leon Morton (Mary), as well as his cherished children: Brandon West, Heather Chasteen (Steven), Stephanie Ramsey (Jeremy), Christopher West (Kathy), Sarah Watson (Brian), and Vanessa Robertson (John). His grandchildren brought him immense joy and pride: Sydney Reeder and Carson Chasteen; Lydia, Luke, and Noah Ramsey; Damian, Secret, Treasure, Truly, and Harmony West; Cayden and Nessasarie Watson; and Jacob and Raelynn Robertson. Skipper also leaves behind his precious great-grandchildren, Ellery and Emery Avdem, and Jonah West, who were a source of endless happiness for him.

He is also survived by siblings: William West (Becky), Rhonda Reaves (Tommy), Thea Seaton, and Lindsay Goetz (Matt) and a number of nieces and nephews who shared many memories and adventures with him.  Jimmy had immense love for his immediate and extended family as well as many friends who became like family over the years.

Skipper's love, humor, and down-to-earth personality will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His genuine love for others will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

A celebration of Jimmy's life will be at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home on Saturday, Sept 14, 2024 with visitation at 2:00 p.m. and memorial service beginning at 3:00 p.m.  In his memory, donations can be made to the burial fund for Jimmy West at Centennial Bank (under the care of Heather Chasteen or Stephanie Ramsey).  Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
