Karen Sue (McCartney) Lippincott was born November 22, 1969, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Cary and Marlene (Trahan) McCartney. On October 13, 2026, Karen departed this earthly life, leaving behind a legacy of faith, compassion, laughter, and of love that will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched.
Karen attended Harding University, where she earned her degree in Elementary Education. A gifted and devoted teacher, she created a classroom where children felt loved, encouraged, and excited to learn. Her creativity, kindness, and joyful spirit made a lasting difference in the lives of her students.
On June 12, 1993, Karen married Duke Lippincott, beginning a life together rooted in faith, family, and service to others. In 1998, they welcomed their daughter, Abbie, who quickly became Karen's greatest joy. Karen devoted herself wholeheartedly to being a wife and mother, creating a home filled with laughter, warmth, and unconditional love. She was Abbie's biggest cheerleader, never missing an opportunity to support her, whether cheering from the sidelines at volleyball games or encouraging her through life's many milestones. She poured her heart into raising the beautiful, strong woman Abbie would become.
Karen's love for others extended far beyond the walls of her home. She had a special heart for ministering to women, particularly those walking through the difficult journey of addiction. For years, she faithfully walked alongside women who needed encouragement, compassion, and hope. Through her words, her actions, and her unwavering faith, she reminded them of God's love and the promise of a brighter tomorrow. She never hesitated to point others toward Christ. Karen had a deep and abiding love for God's Word. She spent countless hours studying Scripture, creatively journaling verses, and thoughtfully exploring each word to better understand the depth of His love and promises. Her faith was not simply something she spoke about; it was something she lived. Together, Karen and Duke remained devoted to Christ and His church, finding joy in serving others and building friendships that would last a lifetime.
Karen also had a wonderful gift for making ordinary moments extraordinary. She was intentional about creating memories, whether organizing games, planning painting parties, or bringing family together for laughter and fellowship. She understood that the greatest gifts in life were often the moments spent together, and she made sure those moments were filled with love. One of Karen's sweetest blessings was becoming a grandmother to Karsyn. The love she had poured so freely into her family would now become part of another generation, a beautiful continuation of the legacy she leaves behind.
Karen is survived by her loving husband, Duke Lippincott, of the home; her daughter, Abbie Shaw, son-in-law, Drake Shaw, and granddaughter, Karsyn Shaw, of Carl Junction, Missouri; her parents, Cary and Marlene McCartney of Searcy, Arkansas; and her sister, Kristi Fowler, and husband, David, also of Searcy, along with their three children. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cary and Catherine McCartney and Odie and Eva Trahan.
In recent years, Karen faced her own difficult journey with depression. While that struggle was a part of her story, it does not define the beautiful life she lived or the immeasurable love she gave. Her family hopes that her memory will be a reminder to extend compassion, offer grace, and never underestimate the importance of walking alongside those who are hurting.
Karen will be remembered for the way she loved deeply, gave generously, laughed freely, and shared the joy she found in Christ. Her life was one of purpose, service, and devotion to those she held dear.
Though her earthly story has come to an end, the love she gave, the faith she shared, and the lives she touched will remain part of her beautiful legacy. She was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Cabot Church of Christ. Arrangements by Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
