Kathleen "Kathy"
Frances Bilon
Nov 12, 1957 — Oct 21, 2024
Kathleen "Kathy" Frances Bilon, 66, of Sherwood, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones. Those left to cherish her memory and to miss her dearly are her mother, Emma Carothers; her children, Wes Bilon (Megan) and James Bilon; grandchildren, Avery and Allison Bilon; siblings, Susan Scantlin (Tom), Becki Griffey Walters (Mike) and Kellye McElroy Smith (Steve). She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Carothers and her husband, Steve Bilon. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jan Denton, a dear friend from the age of 3.
She was born November 12, 1957 in Little Rock to Lawrence and Emma Orlicek Carothers. Kathy was able to fulfill her dream of being a stay-at-home mother until her two sons started school. (Oh, the stories she could tell of raising two boys.) She then began a career as an assistant manager at Walmart, followed by a short stint as a paralegal. She spent the next 13 years at UAMS as the project coordinator for the 12th Street Health & Wellness Clinic before she officially retired. Kathy was extremely passionate about helping the less fortunate. Kathy was a true artist and loved painting. She also loved crafting, especially making soap and lotion to place in bags she would sometimes sew herself for the women's shelter and Open Arms Shelter. She loved to volunteer at the North Little Rock Animal Shelter, tutor students in the Strive Program, work with the children's ministry at her church and volunteer at the Open Arms Shelter. Kathy enjoyed spending time with her Sunday School class and attending Park Hill Baptist Church. Prior to that, she was a member of Fellowship Bible Church in Cabot, Arkansas. Kathy loved the Lord and it truly showed as she was always spreading God's love through her actions. She never took life too seriously. She enjoyed laughing and joking…mainly laughing at herself. She loved reading, cooking, hosting, and socializing. Her doors were always open.
