Kay McClendon, 67, of Cabot, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024. She was born January 15, 1957 in Little Rock to Douglas and Josephine "Joe" Mathis. Kay loved being outdoors, fishing, working in her yard, swimming in her pool, and in her younger years, being on the lake with friends. Kay worked for Kroger for over thirty years where she started out in high school as a checker, then advanced to customer service and continued her growth into her leadership career. She was a hard worker with a strong work ethic and was a very loyal and dedicated employee. Kay was instrumental in helping to open the Kroger store in Cabot as their front-end manager prior to her retirement. Kay was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She was deeply devoted to her daughter, Natalie, and was always front row for every dance recital, competition, pageant, and school function. She was fondly called "Momma Kay" by all of Natalie's friends and "Weeza" by her grandchildren. She was world-renowned for her lack of patience, perfectionist ways, not holding back her opinion, and a knack for telling it like it is. Kay was preceded in death by her mother, Josephine "Joe" Rieathbaum and her life partner, Granville Fulmer.

Those left to cherish her memory and to miss her dearly are her daughter, Natalie McClendon Womack (Jesse); grandchildren, Charlotte Kay Womack and Jack Douglas Womack; father, Douglas Mathis (Sandra); sisters, Kim "PJ" Scott and Shonda Grappe; brother, Gaylon Mathis; Natalie's father, Gary "Wolf" McClendon; five nieces; seven great nieces and nephews, and many friends and extended family members.

Visitation will be 2:00-3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home with memorial service beginning at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Kay McClendon, to the Little Rock Compassion Center, 3618 W Roosevelt, Little Rock, AR 72204 or at lrcompassioncenter.org.  Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
