Obituary

Kay Frances Woodburn Baker, 80, of Cabot, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025. She was born January 22, 1945 in New Martinsville, West Virginia to the late J Allen and Virginia Frances Van Camp Woodburn. She went to school in a one-room school house in Middlebourne, West Virginia and she earned a degree from Salem College in Salem, West Virginia. As a military wife, Kay traveled with her husband and was the perfect example of an officer's wife ~ always classy. In addition to taking care of her family, she also had a very successful career with Mary Kay Cosmetics that began in November of 1986. Throughout her career, she would go on to win the famous pink Cadillac, as well as several other cars and awards with the company. Kay retired in 2022. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was known for her compassion to everyone she met. She was always kind and had a great sense of humor. Kay struggled with social anxiety disorder and even authored a book "Why Do I Feel This Way?" to help others going through the same things. She loved the outdoors, working in her flowerbeds, watching the hummingbirds, feeding deer and taking care of her animals.  Kay was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Cabot since 2008 and served in numerous capacities in various ministries. Kay loved the Lord! His love flowed through her to others.  In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Terry Toney and brother-in-law, Ronald Hoover.

Those left to cherish her memory and to miss her dearly are her husband, James Richard Baker; children, Richard Baker and Dena Toney (Donald Brockway); five grandchildren, Tyler Toney, Trent Toney, William Baker, Wesley Baker and Wyatt Baker; brother, William Woodburn (Janet); sister, Linda Hoover and numerous extended family members and many dear friends.
