Lana Sue Gunter Carter, 75, of Austin, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, after a 5-year battle with cancer. She was born on March 23, 1949 to Berthel and J. T. Gunter and lived most of her life in the 16th Section of Lonoke County. Lana was a 1967 graduate of Cabot High School and earned an Associate's Degree from ASU Beebe. She worked as a legal secretary and court reporter for over 35 years in Lonoke and Pulaski Counties.

Lana was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved spending time in her community and with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Berthel and J. T. Gunter; her sister, Charlotte Wolfe and two brothers-in-law, Richard Wolfe and Charles Troutman. She is survived by her son, Sean Carrier, her daughter-in-law Sarah and her grandchildren Timothy, Molly, and Abby. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Troutman; brother, Joe Gunter; sister-in-law, Diane Gunter and many nieces and nephews.

Lana loved being around people, animals and researching genealogy. She especially loved researching the genealogy of families in her community. She was a lifelong Democrat and a supporter of PBS and St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Very special thanks to her niece, Jacque Sumler who went above and beyond taking care of her during Lana's battle with cancer. Also, thank you to the great team at Greystone Nursing Home for your care of Lana.

Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 p.m., Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home.  Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 2, 2025 at 16th Section Cemetery.
