Leo Dorr Kurowski, 85, of Cabot, passed away December 26, 2020. He was born March 23, 1935 in Schenectady, New York to the late Harold and Emma Osterhout Kurowski. Leo was a combat infantry veteran of the Korean War and a Purple Heart recipient. After being discharged from the Army, Leo eventually moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he worked as a driver at the GCC Rio Grande Cement Plant in Tijeras. It was in Albuquerque that he met and married his loving wife, Gail, in 1987. Leo wore many hats in his lifetime: truck driver, marksman, motorcyclist and history buff. His dry sense of humor kept life interesting for all those around him. Leo was a Christian and loved his Lord with all his heart. He was greatly loved by his family and friends and will be missed, but his family looks forward to being reunited with him in Heaven. In addition to his parents, Leo was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Kurowski; brothers, Harold Jr., Edward and Stanley Kurowski and his nephews, Keith and Raymond Kurowski.
Mr. Kurowski is survived by his loving wife, Gail; daughters, Candi Bur (Ken), Rhonda Calkins and Connie O'Dell (Mark); son, Randy Calkins (Rebecca); grandchildren, Courtney Gauze, Tyler O'Dell, Kelci O'Dell, Jason Kusler, Christian Bur, Jordan Bur, Cory Calkins, Terrance Wilson, Aryn Calkins, McKenzie Calkins and Alex Rose.
Please consider a memorial donation in Leo's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Disabled American Veterans Association.
