Obituary

Lorena Mae Carter, 95, of Cabot, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025.  She was born September 19, 1929 in Basehor, Kansas to the late Robert L. and Alberta Meyers Stevens.  Lorena was a member of Changepoint Church.  She was a hard worker and owned several of her own businesses including a restaurant in Leavenworth, Kansas and a concrete statuary company.  She even ventured into pet grooming.  In her spare time, Mrs. Carter loved to bake, enjoyed dancing, found joy in hummingbirds and flowers, made the very best peanut brittle, and she was a lifetime member of Beebe VFW.  Her greatest accomplishment and joy came from being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother.  She loved her family and they will all miss her dearly.  In addition to her parents, Lorena was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Lee Sperling; granddaughters, Lorie Pettijohn and Teresa M. Biggins and sisters, Clara Lou Stevens and Virginia Harrod.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, C. D. Carter; children, Linda Kay Smith, Jackie Eugene Sperling, Alberta Ann Zawodny, Charles D. Carter, Jr., Kerry W. Carter, Charles W. Carter and Brenda Renee Carter; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
