Obituary

Lou Ann Clinton Davison, 71, of Cabot, Arkansas, entered her heavenly home on Monday, August 2, 2021. She was born September 17, 1949, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to John and Ann Pierce Clinton. She was a proud 1967 graduate of Little Rock Central High. Her love for Jesus began at home with her parents and at Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock, where she spent her childhood years involved in many ministries. In both of those places, she made many lifelong friends. She attended Little Rock University (UALR), and then finished her degree in Elementary Education at State College of Arkansas (UCA) in 1971. She moved to Marvell, Arkansas, in the fall of that year to start her first teaching position, and that is where she met her husband, Ben Davison. They married August 13, 1972, and they lived in Marvell to raise their three children until they both retired and moved to Cabot eight years ago.

Lou Ann was a teacher at heart in so many aspects of her life. She taught school for 38 years, mainly as a 3 rd grade teacher at her beloved Marvell Academy, where she made dear friends and influenced many children. She was always generously giving her time in other areas of life, especially at First Baptist Church of Marvell, where she taught Sunday School and VBS and also directed worship for a few years. She was a member of the Marvell Garden Club, the P.E.O. Sisterhood philanthropy, and then she ventured into musical theatre, performing several productions with the Helena Little Theatre.

She kept herself just as busy after retirement, with her favorite thing being spending time with her grandkids who adored her. She was a very intentional and playful grandma, so it was common to find her splashing with them in the pool, playing catch in the yard, engaging in a board game, or reading to Isaac's class at Southside Elementary every week. She lived out her other passions by writing children's Sunday School curriculum for LifeWay and other print pieces for the Women's Missionary Union (WMU); performing and traveling with dear friends in her Sweet Adelines singing group, Top of the Rock Chorus; teaching kids and doing Bible studies with her Community Bible Study group; teaching VBS and volunteering at her church's clothes closet ministry; playing pickleball every week at the community center; and tutoring. She and Ben loved spending time with their neighborhood and Sunday School friends, and they always stayed busy traveling, hiking, and showing up for any friend who had a need. Her love and devotion to Jesus was evident in every role she played in life, and she was a bright light who led others to Him.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 49 years, Ben Davison; her children: Anna Miller (Jason) of Franklin, Tenn., and Larry Davison (Andrea) of Cabot; her grandchildren: Olivia Schinker and Isaac Davison of Cabot and Ian Miller, Elliana Miller, and Asher Miller of Franklin, Tenn.; her mother Ann Clinton of Little Rock; her brother Larry Clinton (Judy) of Springdale, as well as many other beloved family members and friends.

Lou Ann was preceded in death by her father, John Clinton of Little Rock; her son, Phillip Davison of Fayetteville; and her in-laws, Ben and Louise Davison of Marvell.
