Louise Fortson, 98, of Cabot, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Louise was born August 6, 1924 in New Albany, Mississippi to the late Gus and Patsy Hogue. She was of the Baptist faith. Louise worked at the Ordinance Plant in Jacksonville, Arkansas before joining KC Foods where she worked for 41 years. Spending time with her family brought her the greatest joy. Louise was fiercely independent, an avid reader who enjoyed tending her vegetable and flower gardens, camping and fishing. In recent years the activities and companionship of the residents of Brandywine Living filled her days. In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Fortson; his son, Danny; sisters, Clara Tigner, Mozel Thornton, Christine Kilough, Lillie May Alford Mitchel, Bernice Elkins and brothers, Boyce and Boyd Hogue as well as her first husband, Forney Tarkington; nieces,  Gyline Kirkpatrick (Jack), Hazel Gordon (Buddy), Lois Smith, Pauline Creighton, Blanche Windmann, Marge Fay Thornton Philips Hogue, Belinda Bradshaw, Hazel Martin, Danny Elkins and Hayes, Shirley and Eddie Kilough.

She leaves behind her son, Lloyd Tarkington (Marie); granddaughter, Misty Tarkington; grandsons. Wesley (Emily), Philip (Angela) and Bryan (Adele LeBrun); great-granddaughters, Anastasia Wilson of Florida, Nora, Graham, James, Noelle and Ava Tarkington of Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Fay Vann; nephews, Mike, David, Ronny and Tim Vann of Cabot, Bobby Hogue (Frankie) of Arkansas, Allen Kilough of Tennessee and Terry Kilough of Mississippi; friend Pat Button as well as extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2022 with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m., at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-58516. Interment will follow at Sumner Cemetery.
