Obituary

Mable Georgia Nance Ward, 79, of Cabot, passed away August 4, 2020.  She was born November 29, 1940 in Cerra Gordo, North Carolina to the late George and Dorothy Clements Nance.  Mable was a member of Ward First Baptist Church where she served as a Children's Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher.  She retired from Lomanco in Jacksonville where she made many lifelong friends.  Mable was a gifted woman.  She loved woodworking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, fishing, gardening and raising cattle.  Her greatest gift was being known to many as mom, friend and Grammy.  She loved her family.  Mable has been described by many as being kind, sweet and one of a kind.  She was that and more every day.  She will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched and those who love her.  In addition to her parents, Mable was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Ward and son, James Marcus Ward.

Survivors include her daughter, Amy (Gary) Proffitt; son, Gregg (Hilda) Ward; one grandchild, Steven Proffitt and one great-grandchild, Claire Proffitt.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2020 at 16 th Section Cemetery with Dr. Mike Montalbano officiating.  Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
