Macel Lou (Mitchell) Zarlingo, 91, of Cabot, passed from this life August 6, 2026. She was born October 2, 1934 in Lonoke to the late Guy R and Ethel L (Travis) Mitchell and was their only child. Macel was a dedicated educator & retired from teaching in 1996. She taught in the Pulaski County & Cabot School Districts for many years. She then substituted in the Cabot School District for ten years before retirement.

She loved to travel and did a lot during her life. She had traveled to forty-two states, including Hawaii and Alaska and came really close to 5 of the 8 remaining. This was accomplished by car, airplane, bus tours & cruises. She meticulously documented all these trips with pictures and scrapbooks. Macel loved to do crochet and needlepoint and she was also a talented seamstress.

Over the last six years she suffered with the effects of Alzheimer's, but had many wonderful caregivers. Our heartfelt thanks go out to a very special caregiver, Tanya, who cared for Mom for 2 1/2 years. Through Hospice Home Care, she had many that became like family. Special thanks to Lori, Layota, KJ and recently Danielle.

Macel is survived by her daughter, Judy Ann Moore and her husband, W.C; granddaughter; Stephanie Ann Moore; grandson, John Casey Moore and his wife, Brooke; two great-granddaughters, Chaney Reese and Reagan Paige Moore; two special cousins, Phyllis Travis and Donna (Travis) Manning. She was a wonderful, loving Mom and Memaw. Her family was her life.

Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 9, 2026 at Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2026 at the funeral home with interment following at Hicks Cemetery in Lonoke. Arrangements by Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
