Marilyn Batey Stroud, 73, of Cabot, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021. She was born June 6, 1947 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to the late Douglas and Tressie Crafton Batey. Mrs. Stroud was a member of Cabot United Methodist Church, where she was active in the food pantry. She graduated from Arkansas State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education and began her teaching career in Piggott. After three years in Piggott, she earned her Master's Degree in Library Science from UCA and began teaching in the Pulaski County Special School District. She designed and opened the library in the Murrell Taylor Elementary School, from which she would eventually retire. Mrs. Stroud was very passionate about books and was a writer of children's books. She was also passionate about helping people. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stroud was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Ashley.

On March 25, 1972, Marilyn married her husband of 49 years, Al Stroud. She is also survived by their son, Jarrod Stroud (Allison Burton), her siblings, Barbara Batey and Rick Batey (Laura); grandchildren, Taylor Burton, Kylen Thomas and Emily Thomas; nieces and nephews, Courtney Landrum (Daniel), Katherine Wilkerson (Mike), Meredith Batey, Melanie Batey and Todd Langley (Michelle).

The Stroud family asks that donations be made in Marilyn's name to the Cabot United Methodist Church food pantry.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Cabot United Methodist Church. Reverend Stephen Dickinson will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Floyd, Arkansas under the direction of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home (501)843-5816.
