Marion (Md)
Dale Nash
Jan 24, 1935 — Sep 28, 2021
Marion (M.D.) Dale Nash, 86, of Cabot, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021. He was born January 24, 1935 in Desha, Arkansas to the late William Franklin and Ella Hawkins Nash. In addition to his parents, M.D. was preceded in death by his siblings John, Annie, Marjorie, Charles, Pearline, Jeff, Leonard, William, Coy, Faye, Bill, and his adoring younger sister, Betty.
At a tender young age, MD became a self-sufficient and self-made man. Born the 2nd youngest of 13 in a time when the dust bowl left most farming families suffering, his was no exception. These early hardships started his life-long obsession with success. As a business owner, he thrived and developed friendships with other small business owners that he valued throughout his life. Starting small with a single service station, he built a legacy based on honesty, hard work, and skill. He navigated the hurdle of a changing industry and converted his stations to successful convenience stores while also becoming one of the leading oil marketers in Little Rock. As a father he was both doting and demanding, constantly teaching, and modeling his idea of a good "work ethic". To his friends he was known for his businesses, loyalty, and as one of the best amateur fisher-man around. Many tried, but few succeeded, at learning his secret spots that brought him home with a weekly haul of stripers, crappie, and catfish. His love for country western music and teaching led to many years as a boot scootin' dance instructor and part-time DJ. However, his favorite pastime was working his land, tending to his dog and ducks, enjoying nature, and sharing his knowledge with his children and subsequently his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great- grandchild.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Rick D. Nash and Lorita A. Williams; grandchildren, Ryan D. Nash, Laura K. Gage, and Karrissa A. Hasenbank; great-grandchildren, Kevin Flannagin, Faith Solis, Dylan Verdot, Jason Nash, Noah Flores, Tyler Verdot, Christopher Norris, and Henry Gage; great great-grandchild Christopher and numerous extended family members and friends.
