Mary Jaunita Carroll Morden, 95, of Austin, died August 1, 2022 in Cabot, Arkansas. She was born December 23, 1926 in Midway, Arkansas to the late Sam and Lottie Carroll. Jaunita was a lifelong resident of Lonoke County and the Cabot area. She was a graduate of Midway School.
Jaunita was a hard worker and a trailblazer. She began her career in banking at Bank of Cabot, where she retired as a Vice President after working many years. In addition to her banking career, during this time, she was a member of several different city and state organizations. She was a board member of the Student Loan Guarantee Foundation of Arkansas. Her service to her community and her hard work ethic culminated in her being chosen 1969 Woman of the Year sponsored by the Cabot Chamber of Commerce. She served as a board member of the Cabot Chamber of Commerce, was the Chamber President in 1985 and also a member of the Ward Chamber of Commerce. Jaunita was a faithful contributor to the Cabot community.
After making the decision to retire from banking, she did not stop working. Jaunita decided to sell real estate and she became a licensed agent. Like so many things, she was very good at it. She was Treasurer of the Jacksonville-Cabot Real Estate Council in 1994. Jaunita was awarded the 1997 Million Dollar Real Estate Life Member Award by the Arkansas Realtors Association. She also received awards from the North Pulaski Board of Realtors Life Member Million Dollar Club in 1998, 1999 and 2000.
Jaunita was a member of Cabot United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included spending time with her family, reading and playing golf. She loved the game of golf. Jaunita was a charter member of Rolling Hills Country Club in Cabot. In 2004, she won the Rolling Hills Country Club Ladies Golf Association Legends Championship. She spent many days playing on her beloved golf course. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers.
Jaunita leaves behind a loving family including her sons, Larry (Donna) Morden of Jonesboro, Texas, Sammy (Debbie) Morden and Bobby (Janet) Morden, all of Austin, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Shane (Heather) Morden, Jason (Shelly) Morden, Chris (Christi) Morden, Courtney (Andy) Reaves and Casey Morden; eleven great-grandchildren, Austin Harris, Carson and Connor Reaves, McKinley and Gage Morden, Hayley Morden, Cody and Cole Morden, Brandon West, Geary and Jerred Sandefur; sister-in-law, Theresa Carroll, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 5, 2022 at Cabot United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in King Cemetery, Cabot. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
