Mary Sue
Swayne
Dec 4, 1934 — Apr 22, 2022
Mary Sue Swayne (Shipman) went to be with the Lord on April 22, 2022. She was born December 4, 1934, in Yellville, Arkansas. She enjoyed growing up in a large family with eight brothers and one sister. Sue graduated from Yellville-Summit High School. Soon after high school she married her high school sweetheart, Dallas Swayne. Sue and her father boarded the local train and made the long journey to Cheyenne, Wyoming where he "dropped" her off at Dallas' post and they were soon married. They lived in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Rapid City, South Dakota and Spokane, Washington while Dallas served in the Air Force. As a housewife, Sue made it a priority to raise their three children in a Christian home. They lived in Cabot, Arkansas for 53 years and were active members in the Cabot Church of Christ. Sue loved to sew and cook for her family. She also ministered to many people regularly with a visit and homemade cookies. She was an avid bowler, birdwatcher and tended to her many bluebird houses. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Dallas Swayne; her parents, Loy and Nora Shipman; her brothers, Verl, Leon, Ray, Zell, Vance, Dwight, Bill, and Kenneth Shipman.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are a sister, Rose Nell Beach (Glen); children, Deborah Moore (James), David Swayne (Anita) and Ronnie Swayne (Kara); grandchildren, Steve Moore, Keith (Mandy) Moore, Sarah Roderick, Rachel Swayne, Tyler Swayne (Ashley), Kyle Swayne, Drew Swayne, Kaylee Pickle (Andy); great grandchildren, Cassie Moore, Thomas Moore, Emmy Moore, Ellison Pickle, Annie Pickle and Audrey Swayne; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
Funeral services will be 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Cabot Church of Christ with Keith Moore officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday following the service. Interment will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday at Freck Cemetery in Marion County. Memorials may be made to the Cabot Church of Christ Friend's House (P.O. Box 97, Cabot, AR 72023) which locally feeds those in need.
The family wishes to thank StoneBridge Assisted Living, Greenbrier Nursing Home and Kindred Hospice for caring for our mom in her last days. Arrangements are by Moore Cabot Funeral Home (501)843-5816.
