Michael Joseph
Lyons, Iii
Aug 6, 1944 — Jan 14, 2025
Michael Joseph Lyons, III was born August 6, 1944 in Fort Benning, Georgia to Michael Joseph (Joe) Jr. and May Lyons. He passed away, peacefully, at his home on January 14, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents and his much-adored aunts, Margaret Lyons, Sheila Robertson (Jim), and Nellie and Betty McLean.
Michael graduated from the University of Georgia, was an avid Bulldog fan, and loved all things golf. His kind, gentle and generous spirit was felt by everyone that he came into contact with. He was a dedicated husband, loving father, well-loved PaPa and a faithful friend. He had a servant's heart and spent many years as a lector reading scripture at church. His favorite place was the beach with those whom he loved. His smile and hilarious one-liners will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cynthia; his daughters, Angela Lyons McClure (Jonathan) and Pamela Freeman; his brother, Bob Lyons (Sue); his nephew, Blake Lyons, and niece, Julie Grandberry. Michael is also survived by his grandchildren, Emily, Jake, Shelby, and Sydney Freeman, Avery and Parker McClure, and his two great-grandchildren, Layla and Kane Dorris.
Family visitation will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2025 at St. Jude's the Apostle Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Arkansas with a funeral mass to follow at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be at Mountain Springs Cemetery in Cabot.
