Nancy Lynn
Alvis
Dec 30, 1942 — Jul 2, 2026
Nancy Lynn Alvis, of Cabot, passed away on July 2, 2026. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her. Nancy shared 63 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband and best friend, David Alvis. While many knew her as Nancy, her favorite titles were "Nana" and "Grandma."
A lifetime of serving others defined Nancy. She worked as a CNA, Youth Director at Little Rock Air Force Base Youth Center, a licensed EMT with the Pulaski County Volunteer Fire Department, and an onsite guardian for a girls' home in Sherwood. She dedicated more than 20 years to North Pulaski High School as a paraprofessional, helping students develop life skills for independent living. She also earned her CDL to serve as a school bus driver and volunteered as both a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader.
As the wife of a United States Air Force serviceman, Nancy faithfully cared for her family during her husband's Vietnam deployments. Together they lived in Japan, California, Louisiana, Illinois, and Arkansas, hiking Mount Fuji and creating cherished memories through travel.
Nancy loved painting, making floral arrangements, collecting André birds, attending Murry's Dinner Playhouse, and wearing her treasured necklaces. Her favorite necklace represented her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and loved her church family. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Nancy is survived by her husband, David Alvis; her children, Harold (Keri) Alvis, Natalyn (Andy) Newman, and Michael (Stacy) Alvis; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many loved ones. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cookie (James) Juario, and Kellie Renee. Her family finds comfort in knowing that Nancy's love and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Micheal Luce officiating. Burial will follow at Sumner Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home.
