Nelda Ruth Joyner, 91, of Jacksonville. In the wee hours of the morning on Monday, October 19, 2026, Nelda Ruth Joyner (aka: Nellie Bird), received her wings and left her earthly problems behind. The golden gates of heaven opened wide to allow her to walk through. We are sure she was met by her beloved husband, Bobby Joyner, and her family and friends. Nelda was born August 13, 1935 in Greenbrier to the late Faber and Florence Hinkle Byrd. In addition to her parents, Nelda was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby and nephew, Nick.

Left to cherish her memories are her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Daniel Handy; nieces, Melody Robinson, Karen Rendon, Susan Lee, Kelly Berntsen, Cheryl England, Cindy Long and Gwen Clift; nephews, Steve Joyner (Vickie), Jessie Joyner (Amy), Gary Joyner (Janell), Daren Joyner (Lisa), Dan Handy, Shawn Handy (Hannah) and Victor Ferguson, as well as a host of great nieces and nephews and life-long friends.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Woodland Hills Nursing Home and Allen and Pat Crawford for their love and support.

Visitation will be 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 26, 2026 at Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 12:00 p.m., Monday at Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock. Arrangements by Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
