Nicholas (Nick) Grant Smith, 66, of Cabot, Arkansas, passed away on April 3, 2025.

Nick is survived by his wife Kathleen (Lynne) A. Smith, his sons, Brandon S. Smith and Brian T. Smith.  Brandon and Lisa are the parents of Nick and Lynne's eight grandchildren, Lydia, Ambrose, Blaise, Cyprian, Salome, Magdalena, Felicity and Tabitha.

Nick is the sixth of eight children of Grant Thomas Smith and Ida Mae Smith.  Nick's surviving siblings are Ronn Smith (Linda), Gaye Patrick, Cyndi Pyper (Bart), and Tami Meise (Bill).

In addition to his parents, Nick was preceded in death by a preborn infant child, his brothers, Jared Smith and Evan Smith, and sister Lani Smith.

As a long-term employee of Lockheed Martin in Colorado, Nick, widely seen as a good man, realized with his ALS diagnosis that he didn't want to die without peace in his heart, something that he realized he lacked.  He knew through the example of loved ones that the Sacraments were the only path for him to find that peace. Thus, he was Baptized, Confirmed and received First Holy Communion on April 20, 2024.  He died with peace in his heart, having received every grace and blessing that the Catholic Church has to offer, along with hundreds of rosaries from friends and loved ones.

Nick was proud to be a member of the teams that had many successful interplanetary missions.  Nick was the Chief Systems Engineer for the Genesis Spacecraft Program.  The success of the teams was the result of everyone's efforts and exceptional work.  When Nick retired, he was the Advanced Programs Senior Manager.

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 602 E. Main Street, Cabot, Arkansas 72023 at 6:00pm.  Nick's funeral will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church in Highlands Ranch, Colorado on Monday, April 14th, 2025 at 10:00am.  Nick will be laid to rest in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
